Saturday, February 4, 2012

PC chip manufacturer, AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) appoint Rory P. Read, as President and CEO (chief executive officer) a new one. Read is a former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Lenovo.

Read, immediately replace the task of Thomas Seifert, who had doubled over the last seven months as acting from left to Dirk Meyer. Next Saifert return duties as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) alone.

AMD Chairman Bruce Claflin said that Read is an ideal figure to push the company into the leader of the semiconductor industry. Read the previous 49-year-old career at IBM for 23 years before joining Lenovo since Lenovo acquired IBM's PC division in 2005.

AMD is known as Intel's main competitor in the processor business PC (personal computing). Since buying ATI, AMD is also a leading producer of graphics chips. In fact, the industry is now pushing a processor that is integrated with the graphics chips in one chip.

Meyer resigned after disappointment, because under his leadership, AMD has not been producing chips for tablets and smartphones. In fact, a product of the two commodities are booming in the world.
