In a cabinet meeting in the capital Dhaka, on Monday (2/1), the government said the perpetrators of the crime of pornography can be sentenced to a maximum of ten years imprisonment.
Spokesman for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Abul Kalam Azad said that in addition to imprisonment, the government also agreed to impose sanctions Rp55 million for convicted offender.
The policy Items will be included in a bill of pornography that will be submitted to parliament this year.
Before bill was brought to parliament, President Zillur Rahman will deliver a speech on the outline of the bill.
Azad explained the bill would prohibit production, storage, shipping, and marketing of all forms of pornography.
Those who are help make this crime will also be brought to justice.
The Government plans to establish a special court that will handle cases of pornography.
Azad said the government wanted to protect women and children from pornography which he describes as the disease spreads in Bangladesh through internet and mobile phones.
