We've seen lots of fights that featured fighters trading evenly, but rarely fights so evenly fought with such a high level of technique. In the end, I didn't mind that the fight was scored a draw. Should Frankie Edgar really go from this to fighting the WEC's lameduck champion Anthony Pettis? We don't need to see Edgar-Pettis. Pettis can wait until there is a true winner in this epic battle between Edgar and Maynard.
Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard went to war in a fight that was so close it was ruled a split draw on scores of 48-46, 46-48 and 47-47.
Somehow the champion "Answered" the bell for the second frame. Oh and he also landed a huge takedown slam.
Not in a fight this close.
Both fighters stayed the course and landed shot for shot. Maynard missed a few takedowns and it appeared Edgar did as well.
One of the judges scored it for Edgar while the other scored it for Maynard.
